Madekwe, a mixed race British-Nigerian child, was born to an ethnically diverse family from South London. The mother of her child is English and her father Nigerian. Her family was raised on the south London community estate, and at the age of fourteen, she attended The Brit School. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she obtained an acting BA. The stage she appeared in was numerous productions during her time at school like King Henry V, as Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began her acting career with the film Storm Damage. Since then, she has been a guest star on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe made her debut motion picture role in the Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the wake of that film's success she was cast as Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN which aired in 2007 and she also appeared in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside as Ollie. In the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl featured her in 2008 playing Bambi. Madekwe appeared in the comedic How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). Performance credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe made her US debut in the 2009 drama The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. In February of 2011, she was cast in the role of Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe appeared in all episodes of the show's second season as a regular. In May of 2013, it was announced that announcement was made that she would be departing the show following her guest appearance on the first episode of the series' third season. Madekwe starred as Tituba on the show Salem from 2014 to the year 2016. Then, in June of 2012 the actress got married to her long-time partner actor Iddo Goldberg. They've worked together in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl and also was a character on the show Salem.

Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. The four brothers she had were also present: twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. The brothers of Ashley were extremely athletic and played baseball and hockey in the summer and winter. They grew up playing baseball and arenas. Ashley could never walk, however she did dance. As she was two and a half, she started Baby Ballet and fell in love. It was then that she discovered Ashley's love for dancing. Ashley was a professional dancer in all the major divisions until she finished high school. She competed in ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and acrobatics. The top soloist at major competitions such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, were all awarded to Ashley.
