Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg was a Swedish actor, and appeared in a variety of European as well as American films. She is best known for acting in the film "La Dolce Vita," an action-comedy film. In 1960 the film received its Golden Palm and an Oscar by the Cannes Film Festival. The film also achieved the success of critics and consumers. Born in Skane, Sweden, she did a stint as a model before beginning her acting profession. She eventually won the Miss Sweden Contest. Then she moved to the US and started to be seen in multiple movies playing minor characters. Her first credited role was in the movie 'Abbott and Costello Go to Mars", in which she was a Venusian guard. Her role was soon recognized with the Golden Globe award in the "Most Promising Newcomer," category after appearing in the film 'Bloodalley'. Her career included many films which included the War between Italy and America, as well as the drama film War and Peace, the Western "Valerie," the British crime adventure film The Man Inside and the Italian/French drama The Dam on the Yellow River.' In 2015, she passed away at age 83.
